Before you can apply for this grant, you must be registered with grants.gov and have a SAMS number. Please read both sections below to complete the appropriate steps.

FIRST:
Sign up for a SAMS number
What is a SAM? SAM stands for "The System for Award Management." It is a registry for any entity who want to do business with the federal government (like you wanting federal grant dollars!).
So, in order to do business with the federal government, applicants must register their entity at SAM.gov.
By registering you will be assigned a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) number. This number is required for applying for any and all federal grants.
Only after you receive your SAM's number can you then go on to register with Grants.gov (see next).

It can take 7-10 business days to fully complete the registration process so that is why this step is done first!

Note: Your SAM's registration must be updated yearly, so even if you already did this at some point, make sure it is updated!

SECOND:
Register on Grants.gov
Grants.gov is the central location that basically houses ALL federal grant applications.
This is the place where you will officially submit your application.
Grants.gov wants to verify your entity and your information, therefore, it requires you to register with Grants.gov prior to applying. Make sure you use the SAME email address you used to register with SAM.
Please note: securing your official registration can take a few days or even weeks, so make sure this is done before you even start your application!
